Said

by Angela Thomas

Brynn said, I've never seen you happier
than when you are with him.
Dan said,
I've never seen you more broken up over
a guy than right now.
My mother said,

Good, I'm happy for you. You deserve a man
that will treat you right.
Angela said, Wow, you
really are happy, aren't you?
Christie said, Does he
have any brothers?
Travis said, I'm so happy

for you! Finally!
I said, please, baby, be mine, we don't
have that much time left and I want to spend
it with you, only you.
Connie said, So, I've heard
you're off the market, what's with that?
Ernest said,

It's okay, I'm really happy for you, I understand.
And you, you simply said, No. No. No. No.

LOVE this! While I was reading it I thought it was so strange how all the "saids" kept coming together, all like a jumbled mass of "saids". Then, at the very end, there's the most important "said" on a single line. I almost think it would be better if you separated that line completely from the rest of the poem but it works the way it is. Really, really great read. This is going under my favorites!

Angela, you brought all your "saids'" together for a final finale. How interestingly this all fit together and made me flinch with understanding.
