Blues Are Always Easier (When You're Not Here)

by J. P. Davies

Creep out between the strings,
in augmented sevenths, and dischords.
Burn the tune down.

Ghost notes speak volumes,
misinterpret and mis-fret,
Try in vain to construct a progression,
a lick, a riff, to encapsulate.

And I fail, and strum a familiar strain,
Blues are always easier,
when you're not here.

Author's Note: Listening to Layla and other assorted love songs by Derek & the Dominoes, had to write a guitar poem.

Clever and catchy piece Jordan. Title pulled me right in. Cheers!
