Early Summer by Paganini Jones
in the sycamore tree
a blue-tit's nest.
black cat watches
amidst great pleasure
often the memory of sorrow
early summer sunshine
warms the garden.
peony buds start to open
Words on the page
sometimes speak to the heart
high against clear blue sky
a lark sings.
A child laughs and claps her hands.
