To Keep My Glasses Full

by Ken Harnisch

I miss, but do not yearn

To ache is impermissible;

To want is indefensible;

And age has done its best

To show me to the light

I long, but only in the night

Her kiss is in my dreams;

Her embrace is in my soul;

And time has done its best

To shade my eyes in gauze

I still sing, but only to myself

My banter brings the smiles;

My pathos brings the wine;

And Life has done its best

To keep my glasses full

The first 2 stanzas were my favorite. Its a beautiful poem, Ken, as all your poems are. :) And its really great to see you writing again.
