Issues Vol. 1

by Britt Zimmerman

Sweep the honesty under the rug
where the ants nibble crumbs
and the scorpions hide
It belongs here with us.
Sometimes i think,
we just cant seem to
scrape it out from under our fingernails.
And it ferments there,
becomes giant and ominous,
dark and stirring
like storm clouds.
And I keep looking up
my eyes blinking rapid,
waiting for it to
fall in droplets
upon my cheeks

great to see you writing again britt! an awesome poem! i think my favorite line is "...scrape it out from under our fingernails." it's almost like a scratch deep down the back. just an awesome awesome piece. it's great to read you again.

I like the analogy you use for honesty Britt; especially the idea of scraping it from under our fingernails.
