Baghdad: Paint This Town Red

by Jersey D Gibson

Sun rises in the east,
in the Middle East.
Bringing the morning,
of another day.

Imam's calling from a tower,
bringing the devote to their knees.
US checkpoint blocking the road,
bringing insurgents to their knees.

Traveling these dusty streets,
cracked homes and broken lives.
Traveling these deadly streets,
fire and flames cutting lives.

Can't stop!
Can't cease!
Until you are,
All deceased!

High noon and the sun is high,
heat oppressing everyone in sight.
Still the humvees run their routes,
can't give anyone a chance to rest.

High noon and the bell tolls,
and all hell breaks loose.
Still the humvees run their routes,
both the heat and bullets kill.

High noon and the reaper calls,
soldiers lining in rows.
Still the helicpoters run their routes,
Medivacs pulling all the wounded.

Can't stop!
Can't cease!
Until all are,
Fucking deceased!

Can't run!
Can't release!
Belts feeding,
People greased!

...and we're gonna paint this town red...

The sun sets in the west,
in the Middle East.
Time for the Imam's call again,
time to ask for forgiveness.

Sun sets in the desert,
cooling down the baking lands.
Freezing in ninty degree weather,
tempers baked and frozen over.

Sun sets and NVG's are on,
green world it has become.
Muzzle flash brighter than the sun,
close your eyes until the shootin's done.

Can't stop!
Can't cease!
Your death,
is my release!

Black as death and still we drive,
hunter/killers on the prowl.
Humvees clatter on shattered streets,
driving over what are shattered lives.

No safety found nor peace obtained,
lives lossed and land gained.
Burn the oil and shoot our guns,
a minigun would sure be fun.

Shadow warriors stalking the night,
shadow insurgents camping out.
Smoke a cigarette and we will see,
and then we'll be the death of you.

Can't stop!
Can't cease!
When there's war,
there's no peace!

Can't stop!
Danger ahead!
Next target,
full of lead!

...and we're gonna paint this town red...

This is briliantly crafted. Your use of repetition fits perfectly.
