role reversal of the future. by Andrew S Adamsthe robots are taking their mechanical hearts from the data banks,
transactions occur between those who mechanically
seem to understand love-
giving their scrapmetal hearts to one another becomes
some sort of simulated emotional gesture-
missing the point but
trying to understand.
the attempt to socialize, though
has gone horribly awry.
as they're listening to japanese pop music,
flashing strobelights overload their CPU's-
thus destroying the knowledge of these hearts they've traded;
they are dropped carelessly to the ground,
leaving a field of scattered hearts to be salvaged
and reclaimed by those servant humans
who haven't any better ideas of what to do with them.

Posted by Tricia Marie Miel on 05/23/05 at 03:45 AM Here's hoping we never get to the point where we become subordinates to machines. Love is complicated enough without having to encrypt it into some sort of simulated formula. I enjoyed this. Well done! |
