Regrets always get even

by Ava Blu

When she looked down and saw blood,
she knew something was wrong
this was not the every month blood
she became dizzy and nauseas

Frightened, she went out and found her friend
together they headed to the hospital
after a few hours,
an uncaring doctor emerged

There was no compassion in his mouth
as he asked questions
"Was she pregnant?
and how many sex partners she had"

She flinched
but lied
almost purging the real number from her mouth
along with the dinner she tried to keep down

This was the same hospital
where just 2 years earlier her demons
had been pumped out to save her life

The doctor returned
disgust now filled his eyes
as he informed her she had Aids

There was no way to pinpoint where it had come from
too many had left their essence inside her
he handed a prescription
trying not to touch her hands

As she left,
a familiar nurse appeared
the reflection in the woman's eyes
brought tears

"I saw your demons 2 years ago
as your body demanded to die.
Warnings then were not enough
to keep away the lies."

With those words,
the nurse walked away
and she fell to the floor

Karma was now evening the score.

Author's Note: Well, I do not know where this one came from. I don't think it is finished yet, but I thought I'd post what I had so far.

the great equalizer is Karma as it swings both ways.
