The Roadmap

by Maureen Glaude

Pushing on
focused on the
happier turns
of life’s roadmap

seeking daily courage
strength of health and the will
to be in love
again with life

processing the pains
if not seeing any
coming to terms
at least dealing with them
in smaller doses at a time
and confiding in higher power
to console

pride, excitement
and hope
found mostly in family
especially the story still unfolding
of my grown children

joy that perhaps I’ve added
growth to the loved ones I’ve encountered
as well as lived with

faith that the roadmap will present
more smoothness in the future

...maureen, this is golden...i wish all that you wish, i just didn't put it in the lovely, poignant way you do...from first verse to last, you describe the yin/yang of life and i wish i could talk to you rather than this typing thingeee, because each line is a world of feelings and i ain't got all day nahahahaha, you write beautifully, this is an example...peace, chaz

Poignant is the first word that came to mind upon reading this. What more can one ask for but as much smoothness in the road as possible, and to see deer along the side of that road as happened to me yesterday; actually I was on the train. :o)

Solid symbolism, you've taken a common symbol and used it in a fresh, meaningful way. Full of both nostalgia and hope along with the troubles life brings.
