Ignition

by Jeffrey Parren

Listening as R. Kelly speaks with such swagger
Braggin' all about how he bagged her
When he stuck his key in her ignition
Too bad she wasn't under her own cognition

Glamour and lights, R. Kelly uses flashing devices
To magically cause a loss of gripes with vices
When her daddy calls, she is busy gettin' dirrrrty
Too bad she is 14, and he is over thirrrrty

Author's Note: Now I am as much a fan of R. Kelly as the next guy, so don't get me wrong here, but like Dave Chappelle says: "Any real fan of R. Kelly wouldn't let that scandal stop him, because if you were paying attention to his music, all these years, you might have seen it coming like I did..."

To be honest I read this because of the red letters, but was intrigued by your clever poem and your poetic rendition... Makes me curious. Your rhymes skip across the lines to the delight of the funny bone and the mind.
