The Basic Premise of the WILL is a Relentless Fear

by Ashok Sharda

I WILL
with the borrowed WILL,
I WILL my world

The basic premise of the WILL
is fear,
a relentless fear
which keeps the WILL glued
to its creation,
an intact world

I walk,
afraid of becoming immobile
I talk,
afraid of being dumbstruck

I am what I am,
scared of my death

What a wonderful quote Daniel! Yes Ashok, I have to ask myself after reading this, 'where is this so called WILL?' for it is indeed 'borrowed' and as its natural source is 'fear' can never be anything but a choiceless choice. What happens if the fear is gone, must not the 'borrowed WILL' vanish? Yes, this is the biggest obstacle we face in this natural world, and if the fear were to disintegrate, the WILL would RISE as an entity free of delusion. Well, that's what I saw anyway, perhaps I should think it through some more in order to feel a bit more clarity on the subject. Thanks for sharing :-)

Perfectly descriptive of life's conundrum...is there ever an answer or solution?

...and we are left wielding our wish-power :) Perhaps the fear is of the manner of death, and whether or not this is, or is percieved as, a process that begins at the first instance of (self-)consciousness? The avoidance of negatives fails to result in a positive...
On a personal note, I'm more inclined to fear life before death - but then, I don't know what's coming for me :>

I can't help but agree with you Ashok. The will to survive is strong, but so is the fear of not surviving...which keeps me going even at the risk of things not remaining intact (nervous breakdown).

Ashok, I agree with bits & pieces of what has already been said. I can't say I'm scared of my death, though, because I've dealt with that issue. Yet, your poem pinpoints other issues that I haven't faced quite so well. Excellent work.

i like this poem a lot, because it says what everyoen else (well me anyway) is afraid to say. beautiful

Fear is a primary motivator for both action and inaction. What it mostly does is to consume the mind forcing us to think of things that don't matter while we miss the truth~. Great read.
