shadow by Emily G Myersbehind me
I can hear his voice
and he fills the room
speaking to everyone
but me
lifting
twisting
sighing
I pull my hair
down over my face
he couldn't see it
anyway
his voice softens
as he narrows in on his prey
but he still commands the room
and when he leaves
he takes our oxygen
and sighs fill the space
he had been taking up
behind me
he walks away
I push my hair out of my face
I never needed anything
anyway 04/15/2005 Author's Note: about Nic.

Posted by Kyle Anne Kish on 04/16/05 at 06:03 PM Emily, ouch! The emotion and vividness in this piece is astounding. I see you pulling your hair in front of your face ... trying not to be noticed or wanting to be noticed? Perhaps a bit of both? Breathe deeply and feel your own oxygen. You are well worth it. |
