Slipping Glimpser by Anita MacJust another Slipping Glimpser,
rolling through and over
the facets of Reality;
Forgetting the last as I break through the next:
new angle
new glimmer
new hue.
And as I change so does my Art.
I can only Reflect what I See
before it Slips away and I move on
and the only remnants:
sketches of nostalgia
paintings of a different view
pastels of a past life.
And as my Art changes so do I.
Im sorry if my feelings confuse you;
all I have to compare Now to
are sketches from
last year
last month
last week.
Im just another Slipping Glimpser,
but maybe youve never Known one before.
I may be distant right now,
but just bear with me another month;
this will all Slip away
Ill Glimpse something new
itll all change Again.
04/11/2005 Author's Note: Inspired by Willem de Kooning, the original and self-described Slipping Glimpser. He believed that the slyle of
art that you did and your life-style were the same, sometimes it worked better for one than the other (this was
his explanation for the tragic early deaths of many of his Abstract Expressionist peers). I think it makes sense; it
fits my life at least. Anyway, fascinating guy with wonderful work, and I don't like Abstract Expressionism as
a general rule... Hope you enjoyed, and please comment, I think it needs polishing.

Posted by Kyle Anne Kish on 04/12/05 at 07:39 PM Anita, how fitting your title and topic are. "And as my Art changes so do I." <--- I believe this to be so true ... especially as I compare my writings from the past until now. Great poem. :) ~~ Kyle Anne |
Posted by Christina Bruno on 04/12/05 at 11:04 PM the title and poem go hand and hand...no matter how much art changes, it is still beautiful :D |
