Learn How to Drown

by Uriel Tovar

Just breathe

The liquid

And let go

       Tomorrow is too far away

To feel the air grow heavy

As your eye lids sink low

Just breathe and

Let go

As your world turns from white

       To blue to

       Dark

                    thoughts still murmur

From the bubbles you let go

And sink in

Stiffening hope

And becoming one with the sea.

             The waves crash

             And pull us through

             The lives which we live--

             The problem isn't drowning

But living through the death.

Author's Note: death isn't the loss of dignity but an inevitable transitionary end. (this isn't a suicide piece)

this is staring death in the face. I like it very much.

to be brutally honest i feel like its missing something. the last stanza seems to tie into the rest by the continuation of the ocean theme. there is the whole death thing obviously... but there just seems like a skip of thought there. otherwise, i love the imagery and the mood you set. :)

Yes, but what matters is what is." tomorrow is too far away'.The process of life is also the process of death and the other way round. It all depends on us as to how we treat it. Do we really live our lives of let this process of death take its own course.

Uriel, this is raw, honest and powerful. The last line was kick ass great. You had me hook, line and sinker from beginning to end.
