Truth

by Maria Terezia Ferencz

Shield of truth honesty
gashed with a sword of lies
though strong still bleeds
weeps red tears sorrowing
when truth a heart denies

Or call the truth a flower
white fragrant fragile bloom
bursts forth with a power
deceit could never know
carelessly trod under a heavy foot
of lie
crushed unnoticed broken
her root still does not die

Compare truth to a light
a rising sun at morn
though clouds of deceit shadow it
the sun still is not gone

My truth could be a man
strapping strong youth
aged by his lies
now unkempt bent over
tired and abused
still he stands
he struggles
gaining power when
the truth he does discover
still lying deep within

in truth the truth is plain
best delivered with
the lips the heart the soul of this
even when it will cause pain

Thought provoking piece. Proof positive that truth comes in various forms.
