Made by Delilah CoyneA patchwork man!
Pieced together in the midst of madness.
Flesh and bone of many
Make up an ill-woven sadness.
Spark of life lights
What was never meant to breathe.
A vengeful newborn!
Whose anger does seethe,
As his inhuman hands
Reach for humanity.
While his hatred brings with it
Vile calamity.
At first seeking love
Yet denied what he sought,
He then indulged rage;
Alone and distraught.
Beauty and Youth
Laid waste by his spite.
Since love is refused
Torment is his plight.
All that is something
Is taken away.
Pain and scorns all thats left
For the Maker and Made. 04/07/2005 Author's Note: I wrote this for a Literature Circle Project assigned in my English Lit. class. It's about Frankenstein (Maker) and his creation (Made).

Posted by Rula Shin on 04/08/05 at 02:45 AM Great piece, I too voted "yes". Indeed we are a patchwork as much as any frankenstein. And the maker, funny how we must visualize him as a man of intentions despite the notion that creation is derived for its own sake. Yes, this is about the "inhuman hands" that "reach for humanity", yet somehow, this too is the maker's own M.O. isn't it? Wonderful piece, welcome to Pathetic! I'm looking forward to more :-) |
Posted by Cathlyn Cartier on 04/08/05 at 01:15 PM As already stated, a wonderful work here. I look forward to future postings. Welcome to Pathetic! |
Posted by Ashok Sharda on 04/09/05 at 01:59 AM Well, in the absence of the understanding of the understanding of the concept of greater goodness, this is what IS. Nicely presented. |
Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 04/09/05 at 01:34 PM Nicely reflects the folly of when man tries to play God. Well done, and welcome to Pathetic.org. :o) |
