a hard woman...is good to find

by Charlie Morgan

i'm getting older everyday,
suppose it's a good thing
i've changed my ways.

like e'rybody else after Nam,
went a lil' crazy
that was the norm.

looking at me you couldn't tell it now,
kept it together,
some way, somehow.

angry and drunk was the picture of me,
love was a Monet
i just couldn't see.

and

hell-on-a-harley, was where i's bound,
and a good woman loved me,
her feet on solid ground.

but, no advice from me today.
you probably wouldn't
listen anyway.

now, i'm a buffet of love for the world;
slices of life
in a smorgasbord.

no longer a prisoner of hate, set free
made possible by the love
she's given me.

I like the whole but this part: "now, i'm a buffet of love for the world; slices of life in a smorgasbord" is simply delicious!!!!

A pignant and hardy appreciation... I love the grit and the grace of this poem, Chaz. And that last verse is both a feather and a great healing wind. Wonderful poem, my friend.

peak title - and 'love was a Monet I just couldn't see' is truly ironic in the light (or dark) of his deteriorating eyesight. I guess both love and art are 'felt' rather than just 'seen' :)
