pedestal

by Carolyn Coville

you're intimidated by my beauty

you're the type that's watched me silently,
your breath stops at sight,
your hands grow warm as you rub the sweat onto your jeans,
it's hard to swallow.
finally after days, you grow the balls to sit next to me,
muttering some mumbo jumbo about the class

though i may have goddess tattooed on my back,
when i look in the mirror my acne and frizzy hair reflect back at me,
and i'm definitely having a fat day.
did i mention how quick tempered and impatient i am?
often i trip over my own two feet,
and have been known to make some pretty ditzy comments

don't be scared to talk to me;
i'm not on that pedestal you place me on

Really like this Carolyn for its down to earth honetsy, and can easily relate to it in my own way...from both sides of the equation. Perhaps Pedastool or Pedastal as a title?
