a supermarket at noon. by Andrew S Adamseveryone at 90 years old and still
fighting bitterly in the checkout line
over an expired coupon that would save them
twenty six cents
meanwhile the six year old
begs for that snickers bar, and start screaming
crying, despite the soda in the cart
despite the dougnuts in the cart
the gummi bears, the fruit rollups
and the coco puffs,
he still wants that damn snickers bar.
the old woman, still holding her ground
and this kid won't shut up.
finally, after waiting in line
behind this woman, fighting for
twenty six cents for roughly
twenty six minutes, the kid
screaming the whole while,
the cashier blinks first.
finally, she's gone,
and i pay the sixtyfive cents for my
snickers bar and walk out of that damn place. 04/04/2005 Posted on 04/04/2005 Copyright © 2025 Andrew S Adams
