poets and dead men

by Morgan D Hafele

she fell in love
with the words of a dead man
confusing the words for the man...
funny isn't it?
scribbles across the walls-
-of a long abandoned
public- bathroom
stained with urine and blood

she fell in love
with the words of a dead man
-and frankly-
so did I.

I LOVE this line:
"confusing the words for the man... funny isn't it?"
I've done that so many times. :D this is a great poem.

why does everyone like the guy after they die? i just did a report on ferlinghetti and everyone hates him now but i bet when he's dead they'll love him...anyway, i love the way the poem goes in a perfect circle ending with an excellent jab...you have the edge

This is quite the piece of work! Like, we're often guilty of what we think of others to be. Well-done, bro!

this is finely crafted and well worded... quite an enjoyable read if I may say so myself

Heh... I've totally been that girl. It's easy to idealize based on a bit of brilliance and no trace or idea of the person behind it. But then, these are the things that create legacies.
