(It's)Beginning to End

by Heide McAlister-Bates

My silence screams louder
than any words I could ever utter.
I sit and nod and smile -
you carry on, oblivious to my despair.

There seems to be a piece missing
from my jigsaw puzzle.
I'm not sure if it's a bit of the sky
or a bit of the lake.

I only know that it is blue.

Its coldness pervades my very being.

It drowns me in its damp chill
or
makes me feel insignificant in its vastness.

My lungs are close to bursting.

I scream as I fall.

You sit and nod and smile.

Yes, this silence speaks louder than words. Depicts emotions and uncertainty.

No comment was necessary, Heide. Your words speak loud and clear. The last line was a kicker. I loved this poem. ~~ Kyle Anne

the thing i fear most in my relationship, what I absolutely fear, is that we're simply being polite over each other. I would rather battle it out like ferocious tigers, than smile at each other when we're both in pain.
