The Doily Queen (repost) by Mary Ellen Smith
The Doily Queen lives in a castle
Alone with her cat Dot.
All of her clothes are doilies.
She loves doilies a lot!
She wears a doily in her crown
Upon her shoulders too
She even has two doilies
To wear upon her shoes.
Crocheted or darned upon her walls
She hangs them as she pleases.
And when the Queen has caught a cold
A doily for her sneezes.
Dot has a doily collar
That sports a silver bell.
So whatever it is that Dot is doing
The Queen can always tell.
On Doily Day the Queen commands
Her subjects to obey
To wear a pretty doily hat
Through out the doily day.
'Tis silly, yes, one might assume
To see the town dressed so.
But when a Queen loves something so
They really can't say no.
And so she and Dot watch over
The Doily Day parade.
They have a special grandstand seat
Under a doily shade.
They watch the doily dancers
And judge the doily floats.
Afterward to the lake they go
To see the doily boats.
When night is come, fireworks!
The band will play a tune.
And yes, the crowd will gather
Under a doily moon!

Author's Note: Inspired by one of my sisters...who does have doilies everywhere!
