a man from the big city. by Andrew S Adamsfor better or worse
his small towns are on a scale
consistent with dreams so vast
i couldn't imagine
(even if i had a mind to dream;)
not that you'd particularily
notice what he has to say from
back home, but you can tell
just by lookin at him
all the great things he's seen
that i will never see,
using words i'll never understand
much less ever use;
yet, for all of this
i can tell
by the grit of his beard
and the sink in his brow
that he knows
of towns smaller than this one
to which he'd never like to return. 03/14/2005 Posted on 03/15/2005 Copyright © 2025 Andrew S Adams
