and while we're
sitting around, discussing
relative wealth and poverty
and the state of the nation,
another opportunist is posing
a broken child in front of an
institution intended for the rich
creating a perfect contrast with which
to envision the next great social uprising,

but no one is really doing
anything but kissing their
own ass over the theories that
will save us from damnation one day,

and it is this constant waiting for
one day to arrive that we get ourselves
so entangled in that we are helpless
to do anything but watch it walk
right by us.

and those photographs will tell a story
that we're afraid of because
maybe this will be the last time we'll
be able to tell it,
and then what will we have
left to talk about?
