H. Hide and Seek

by Christel Crews

I drove for hours searching last night
But you were no where to be found
I searched through your letters
But you left no clue how to find you
I called time and time again
But there was no answer on your end
I stood at the door knocking, my hand
Bruised, but you never answered

Where are you?

Why is it that when I need you the most,
In the most critical time in my life,
You are not around?

What are you trying to say to me?
Why did you allow this to happen to me?
Why did you take away the one thing I had
That I could call my sanctuary
You took back your gift and I am left
Helpless

Illness was not enough
Abuse was not enough
Being stranded was not enough
Losing was not enough
What do you want me to learn
Where do you want me to go

Why is it that when I need you the most
You are no where to be found
I'm sick of this game
