You cannot make a promise to forget,
because the mere thought of choosing to forget something,
brings to your attention the very thing you are not supposed to remember.

Its been almost a year,
and still I am plagued by memories.
Our sad lack
of cooking skills.
Our tendency to be late
for everything.
Our laziness
our dispondancy to life.
You taught me so much much
about how your world worked
that I began to believe it.
People are genuinely unkind.
They are not to be trusted
except for you of course.
Absolutely not you.

You were the one thing
that was right in the world.
Everyone else
was just waiting to screw me over
but you were the supposed stronghold.

God bless you but I've moved on.
I cannot forget. I can't forget.

Kalikala, you've got something here which makes so much sense, I have to respond with ... yes, I've been there. Making someone else your whole world and having to see the world through their eyes can get so tiresome. Yet, we hold tight to something that we feel is right at that particular time and place in our lives. Blessings to you, sweetie. ~~ Kyle Anne

I like the way you set the tone with the first stanza. Then fleshed out the supposition. Great observational poetry:o)
