topic: Burnt Ash Makeup

by Amanda L Marron

Camp Washington calls my name
When schools release into the June air
Adolescent summer fun
Swimming in the lake
Walking in the forest
Spending time with those special friends you’ll always remember
Cabin nights out in the woods
Cooking on the fire
Roasting marshmallows
Then using the burnt ash as makeup
Covering our faces and arms
We scream our songs when we walk back to our cabin
Letting everyone know that the girls of Cabin H are the ones who rule

Oh the days of camp. You brought back the memories with vivid imagery.
