the eyes have it by Charlie Morgan
she had a soul
and gatekeeping was a daily chore.
for others sneaked in when she was
not looking.
slide in through a smile, a nod,
then there they'd be.
connected like sinew and bone,
her soul to theirs.
now, she spends her days
separating and sifting.
trying like Sisyphus,
doing the impossible.
her vacuous eyes are now
pools of dread.
looking in you'll see
she's once been there.

| Posted by Kyle Anne Kish on 02/05/05 at 11:03 AM Charlie ... a very vivid way of describing how dementia can take a vibrant person and slowly dribble away at them until .... well until ... as you said, "...her vacuous eyes are now
pools of dread.
looking in you'll see
she's once been there." Fantastic. My applause goes out to you. It made me cry. That's a good thing. ~~ Kyle Anne
