vorrei

by Carolyn Coville

Vorrei
to lay next to you and peacefully
close my eyes after staring into yours,
to wake in the morning and cook you
eggs, bacon, biscuits,
while singing to Italian music
playing in the background

Vorrei
to spend evenings snuggling myself into your cozy chest,
my lips brushing your neck,
your firm arms securing my delicate frame

Vorrei
to run away with you, pack my belongings
and follow you to your home state in the country
as crazy as that may seem

You think you could never have me;
if only you knew you already do.

Sweet...poignant...if only relationships...life were always this easy. And as you elude to, it can be this way, but we sadly defeat ourselves by complicating things unnecessarily.

Ahhh, the grand love of youth! Romantic, sentimental, gives the warm fuzzies.
