500m (They're Trying to Kill Us) by Jon-Jacob F DealWe lay on our cots
Gazing up at the still-unfamiliar ceiling
Embroiled in the latest debate
Of our often opposed but equally glibly-explained philosophies
When, after a pause--
"You know," he began
"I was just thinking
Less than five hundred meters
Over that way"--he pointed
"Are people who want to kill us."
And, as if this was
(Quite naturally)
The most hilarious joke ever,
We laughed
Until
We
Cried. 01/23/2005 Posted on 01/23/2005 Copyright © 2024 Jon-Jacob F Deal
