TOPIC: Invisible Ceilings by Mark MaxeyWhite walls wrapped the room with decadence
Rumors existed and went forth as a messenger
Recently swept floors hid the truth
invisible ceilings penetrated nothing
two drinks left on the table had melted ice
exposed dilutions expressed remorse
spoken words were not uttered
left alone to float into the invisible ceilings
misplaced harmonics echoed for days
the sidewalks were barren as if forgotten
streets where no cars ever tred
there was no sky just invisible ceilings
ghosts dared not to show their faces
children were forbidden to play
no one seemed to know what to do
it was blamed upon the invisible ceilings
boundaries not expressed leave no conclusions
just ambigious expectations with no reason
all because no one built the right bridge
and left it for the invisible ceilings

Posted by Michelle Angelini on 01/21/05 at 04:01 AM Mark, this is great! I love the "what if..." theme. The uncertainty and unbalance are evident throughout the poem. WOO HOO! On my favorites list! |
