Platypus Women

by Alison McKenzie

I taxied to the disco
Wearing my FAVORITE nylon outfit
Makes me look like a platypus
But I don’t care
It strikes my fancy
And I persevere in the alabaster rhythm there
Pensive as a dandelion in warm soil
(Not pensive enough)
I saunter to my table
Order my drink
Involuntarily salivate
As I watch the men interested
In platypus women

01/19/2005

Author's Note: This poem was created from a 30-something challenge. The list of words was: Disco, Platypus, Nylon, Fantasy, Persevere, Alabaster, Pensive, Dandelion, Saunter, Salivate. I'm still laughing. Silly.

platypus women that do the bump? cool boogie nights and awesome images that spin the decade like a vinyl LP. Great read.

being comfortable in your own skin says it all, and frankly is the biggest thing that brings the fellas running.
