Down This Rural Road

by Maureen Glaude

white and ice-glazed
rural road
stretching blankly onward,
beneath the afternoon sun
past sudden frozen ponds
and pearled trees,
how openly you receive
my imprint
just as the cold
consumes my breath.

A poetic snapshot burned into the collective Canadian mind and psyche. This easily takes me back to my boss and my lunch outing in Wakefield. Thanks for the reminder. :o)
