"Your name is tattooed on my heart"

by Ava Blu

I tried to save you last night
Kicked down the door
You always kept locked from me

Your wrists were tattooed in red
Your lips were the perfect shade of blue
I took a picture to remind you

Your breaths were cold
I could see the poison in your veins
But your soul still remained

The medics came
And pumped your heart
I watched, with no tears, praying for a spark

The blood still flowed over gloria victis
I tried to catch it in my hands
But I lost your voice

The connection disappeared
I could no longer feel
I sang a fragmented song for you
Hoping your eyes were still real

I saved you last night
Even though you had doubts
Your soul heard the song
And once again
Love flowed through your heart.

Sad and emotional ... with a glimmer of hope and happiness at the end.

Goosebumps... "wrists tattooed in red"... I savor trying to find new ways of describing these things.
