Family, at least at Christmas by Adrian CalhounIt's Christmas time once again.
The tree is decorated nicely,
house is all trimmed.
All the presents are beautifully wrapped,
I think they all are anyway.
Not sure if there'll be snow,
but it's colder than the North Pole,
and the rivers all iced over.
We'll sit by the fireplace
catching up on lives and events.
You all with your egg nog,
and I with my Mt. Dew.
The children will have a ball,
laughing, playing, just being kids.
We'll watch and smile
as they all get along famously.
Later on we can laugh,
when father does his yearly,
presents in newspaper act.
Cheap Scotsman.
It will be fun and we'll love
watching the childrens eyes.
We'll watch as father
burns all the paper,
then the tree.
Then the cars, trucks, and trunks
get loaded up.
Flying and driving off,
we all go for another year.
For those few moments,
we could all remember
and be children again ourselves.
For those few hours together,
we will be a family again. 12/23/2004 Posted on 01/05/2005 Copyright © 2025 Adrian Calhoun
