for Ophelia

by Stephanie Kent

Let the willow cover your face, Ophelia,
With its green against your eyes;
And mourn not that truth's a liar, love,
Or that the stars were never fire.

Author's Note: Based on the lines from Hamlet:
Doubt that the stars are fire
Doubt that the sun doth move
Doubt truth to be a liar
But never doubt I love

A small but sweet package of eloquent poetry.
