The Real Meaning Of Christmas

by Melissa Arel

Its not about presents, wrapped with pretty bows
Its not about christmas trees or fluffy white snow
Its not about candy canes, cookies, or treats
Its much more important than the sum of all of these.
Jesus was born to Mary, His earthly mother blessed
Humbled before all of creation in hay-laid, swaddled rest.
Angels proclaimed His birth, the shepherds saw the light
Three kings saw a star shining from far
Guiding them to a kingdom's sight.
The real meaning of Christmas is truly heaven-sent
God in the form of a child, so He may pay our ransom rent.
Given as the payment for all of mankind's sin
He was destined to sacrifice Himself so that we might live again.
We celebrate that gift He gave only once a year
But we should rejoice everyday for His return is drawing near.
Christmas is a time of remembrance when God sent His only son
The real meaning lies in all of our hearts - each and every one.

what a great reminder. we so often get caught up in the traditions of the season that we forget what we're even celebrating.

Hi Melissa, It's beautiful. Amen. The true meaning is about our Lord, Jesus being born, indeed.
