demain may be too soon

legerdemain might have warned us of
disasters of man and nature
echoes from Nostradamus, nothing new

enfin, le nouveau matin is here
and lentement, amid a sea of tears
(mer de larmes)
spirits revive
Samaritan acts, donations and stories seeding
hope from the springs of compassion
that must soon develop into oceans

enfin, we are still very small and
unsophisticated
in the elemental universe

but our souls will carry us on
to theirs
and theirs will assure us
of the serenity of more
sainted places
