A Life Lost - One Whom We Love Dearly by Jacki M ButlerWhy are our loved ones taken
So sudden that we can't say goodbye
Like a hand swooped out of the sky
Picked them up and took them away
They were here one second
Healthy, smiling.....
Virtually perfect
And in one quick motion
They are plucked up and taken away
And we are all left
To mourn as we prepare to move on
To start our life over without them
Knowing that we never said goodbye
We never got that final I love you
We were left with nothing but the loss of life
And each other to hold and comfort
And try to answer each other's questions
The ones that ask "Why?" 01/02/2005 Author's Note: This is for "Dad Jack". Why you were taken from us as sudden as you were I will never know. But I do know that we all will miss you and never forget you. We love you very much and your spirit will always be with us.

Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 10/10/11 at 03:31 PM this is a powerful tribute to loss. it reverberates and shakes us from our complacency and reminds us to express or hone our ability to love everyday, every moment, lest we, with disuse become calloused over time and lose the ability altogether and in the end be overwhelmed with regret at such loss of love which is always at the ready to be expressed in abundance. |
