If They Ask

by Jane E Pearce

If they ask,(and they will)

say it's like a forest, trees

ever pressing, spots

of sun and ebony,

dappled exploding trails

with no signposts to guide-

pin the tail on the donkey,

and sometimes you win.

If they ask,(and they will)

tell them it's orgasms of tears,

laughter, sorrow, joy, reaping,

burying, hope and dispair,

accomplishment and failure

mixed with the mundane

to give the heart a rest,

and heal old wounds.

Whisper of the journey

they will always remember,

hours of cotton candy,

red-orange flames of passion,

and the hard lessons of letting go

those who have to move on.

Tell them life is delicious,

if they ask(and they will).

Jane, "if they ask,(and they will, ( <---- I love that line) has a zesty display of life as it should be lived. Your use of colors, objects and emotions makes me want to greet each day with the vigor of youth and the awe of a child. Thank you. ~~ Kyle Anne
