Two Februarys

by Heide McAlister-Bates

Empty days, desolate and lonely
were all my mind could conceive.
Vision clouded by the storms of the past,
trust and hope disintegrated by the
stinging gammon-storm of words disguised
as truth.

Then, you.

Taking my heart in your hands,
guiding me through the confusing
mists, warming away the soul-chill with
your words, touching my life from miles away.
I knew you before I saw you, and
you me.

Then, we.

Blending our lives;
a meeting of the minds,
a convergence of hearts,
Setting off a chain of events
that churn with a passionfire forged
from the love that was formed
by trust and hope
and you
and me.

one need not strain to find elegance in this, but there is more within this tort to keep the eyes curious.
