Echoes by Ava BluIn my head I hear you breathe
It echoes in my heart
I never thought I could fall apart
I wonder if my soul knows how to live
I wonder if my life knows how to die
I see you in my shadow
But before I can catch you
You slip through the cracks in my teeth
I need to find a way to be
But failing is the only thing I have ever known
Love has never been shown
To me
I will some day have the strength to begin again
Until then
Just feed me your silence
So I will learn how to be loud.

Author's Note: I usually come up with a very good ending or beginning. In every poem I write, there is at least one really good line that sticks with me. In this, it's the last 2.

| Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 12/09/04 at 05:40 PM I agree with you...killer closeout in those last two lines, and a pretty strong buildup to them in what preceeds. Worthy expression of heart at the end of a relationship, that as the title states will still echo. |
