War...No War

by Mike Loftis

Evil deeds have come to light
a hidden blade is seen
The question now is war or not
There is no in between
Turn the other cheek or fight
No chance of compromise
Both sides stare back at the other
with distrusting hate filled eyes
Each one bowing to their God
Can righteousness prevail
with each side claiming heaven
while creating earthly hell
mothers wail and fathers weep
sons and daughters die
while politicians push their pawns
until the veins of youth run dry

Very timely and well said. A slap in the face with the cold light of reality about who's really running our lives. Like the world today is one giant chess board and the pieces are being moved by unseen hands - only we know who they are.

exactly. Powerfully told.

Very dramatic appeal for NO WAR! I think the issues are usually most complex--not just a matter of politicians decisions. Mankind can't seem to get their act together. It is a theological and spiritual issue I firmly believe.

Reading this poem was like a breath of pure oxygen. Talk about a wake up call! Wish I had written this Mike...glad you did.

We are all pawns when men plan war. Considering the nature of the beast, can it be any different? I can only hope, I can only wish.

this is (unfortunately) still a timely piece of work...and a very well crafted one. Adding to faves.

Reading this, while our country is enmeshed in so much negativity...very hard-hitting.

Unfortunately, this piece is STILL timely. The war rages on and the body count is still going up. My only question is: WHY ARE WE THERE? The last 4 lines are killer- very poerful write!!
