Then and Now

by Alicia Vann

I waited for subtle rain
to exfoliate my flaws.
My quilt was over washed.
It was too heavy to dry on a line.
I covered up nature’s lies
and wished for magical
power.

I push and pull
and make it exhausting
for the air.
It must be tired.
My tapestry would be
unfinished and
unextraordinary.

I want to reach
point B.
I want a journey worth
observing
and I want
to wear it
well.

Alicia, you "wore" this poem very well. For me, your last stanza surely packed a punch that made the rest of the poem float so nicely together. It's a super read. Thank you.
