I Am A Victor, Not A Victim

by Melissa Arel

I am a victor and not a victim
It is Christ who has made me strong
I will mount as an eagle of freedom
With wings that are sturdy and long
My trials no longer will keep me back
I will move forward in the journey ahead
He is my portion, all that I lack
He is my sustenance, my daily bread
I am not a victim, but a victor this day
I have set my eyes upon His light
I will follow the Truth, the Life, the Way
And stay the course steadfast within sight!

Hey this goes along with that Switchfoot song! It definitely speaks to me plainly what God is trying to get through to me right now. Mel, He really does speak through your writing!

'I will follow the Truth, the Life, the Way And stay the course steadfast within sight!'... on this evolutionary path. This is beautiful. So full of light.

I could see this as a prayer in and of itself, a proud admonition to the love of a Lord and the strength He no doubt provides you, Mel

Melissa, this brought tears to my eyes because He's been my Way out from the depths, too. You poem is a reminder that Christ's love is never ending. Thank you for a beautiful poem.

Even though I am not of the Christian faith, I'm happy that you find such comfort in your beliefs. I especially loved the last 4 lines. Beautiful write.

I'm not particularly religious, but this spoke volumes to me! Beautiful composition here!
