A Sacrifice Of Thanks by Melissa Arel
Your blessings fall upon me like rain, quenching the parched desert of my soul
Your breath is like a mighty rushing wind, filling my heart with hope and grace
You speak to me in the night with sweet words of tenderness
And renew my spirit steadfast at the break of day.. thank you.
How beautiful are Your promises O Lord, they out-number the stars in the sky
How vast and perfect is Your love for us, Your children.
You hear our prayers, and comfort our sorrows with gentleness
You collect our tears in a bottle, numbering each drop that falls silently
Whispering words of peace to our spirits, You heal our brokenness
Thank you for Your mercies, Father, thank you for Your faithfulness.
You are the giver of all good gifts, to whom none can compare.
You are all we need, all we desire.. so, with humility we offer up to You
A sacrifice of thanks.

Posted by Ken Harnisch on 11/26/04 at 04:37 PM It speaks to this long-ago Churchgoer as something beautiful,Mel, bespeaking the cadences of Psalms, with the hint of The Song of Solomon in the beauty of its words. One does not have to be religious to recognize this as simply superb poetry! |
