Please Don't Touch Me by Alan MahoodPlease don't touch me
It would be too much
I don't know how I would
Survive
Already the sweet perfume of your
Presence has my mind on fire with
Unrequitable images
Please don't touch me
The glory of your beauty makes me
Dizzy and giddy like a child
Taking his first steps
Please dont touch me
I hunger to feel the pleasure of
Your body wrapped in my arms and
The softness of your cheek against my face
While I pass my fingers through your hair
Please don't touch me
It would only increase the longing that
Is laying dormantly beneath my seemingly
Calm exterior, and I could explode in an
Eruption that would make Vesuvius seem
Tiny.
Please don't touch me
For I can barely hold myself together
Now, knowing we can never be
Together and it is my burden to have
Met you too late.
Please don't touch me.
Touch
Me
Please

Posted by Kyle Anne Kish on 11/07/04 at 07:32 AM Alan, you really packed a punch with the last three lines of this poem. I mean, I was thinking just that, but didn't expect to see it on the page. The whole flow of the poem is smooth like melted butter slipping between one's fingers.
