just like daddy

by Charlie Morgan

just like daddy

i'm gonna be just like daddy,
when i grow up.
( i can see it now!)

there'll be christmas wrappings
on the floor.
norman rockwell'll be hiding
in the corner.
he'll be smiling, just as happy as me
with my new bike.

mama'll be there too smiling at daddy,
making it real.

Evocative indeed, my man. Takes one to truly know one. The tenderness and warmth felt and remembered in this one are a pleasure... with maybe a little sadness too... for me, that is.
