and like that

by Charlie Morgan

and like that

while some people hunt for just the right word,
Flaubert's le seul mot juste,
others seek fame and fortune or a body's flesh
to warm themselves.
i seek life in movement, like a jaguar at twilight
lurking in shadows for meaning.
viseral undulations of another bring me closer
like carrion's odor bring vultures.
you deface me with your expectation that has grown
like kudzu covering any and all.
so i turn away, language bringing no solace
to a chafe-reddened soul.
yet, i'll go on; intrepid a virtue but held
like a trident, my soul's only armament.

What true poet cannot relate to this? ...like a jaguar at twilight lurking in shadows for meaning. Indeed sir, couldn't have said it better.
