second thought

by Emily Davidson

your room,
the papers
piled high
on the
desk where
i lean
my elbow
and smile
at you
and you
lean over
to kiss
me but
then change
your mind

Wow ... the last two lines of this poem leave so much open to the imagination. I thought I had it figured out before then. :)

The small gestures we make, or fail to make, are so important to who we are and what we mean. Great poem that catches a difficult point in time.
